In the account of Abraham being called to offer Isaac, Abraham was called to commit every part of his life, wherever it may lead. Feb 18, 2024Altar’d: “Making Space to Surrender”By: Clint McBroomSeries: Altar'dGenesis 8:15-20After being closed up in the ark for a year, when Noah was able to leave, the first thing that he did was to build an altar. To face a new life required making space and surrendering to the Lord. Lent is a season to find out what is most important to us, and to seek Jesus alone; therefore it's a season to surrender ourselves to Christ and to do that, we have to make space in our lives to pursue him.

Feb 11, 2024Follow The Healer: “By His Wounds We Are Healed”By: Clint McBroomSeries: Follow The HealerIsaiah 53:1-5The prophet Isaiah foretold that the Messiah would be a man of sorrows, who would bear our griefs and carry our sorrows, and that by his wounds we would be healed. The cross tells us that God has fully identified with us in our suffering, and just like God transformed the cross into his instrument for redeeming the world, when things go tragically wrong for us, God can use that to bring blessings.
- Feb 4, 2024Follow The Healer: “Jesus, Healing, and the Kingdom of God”
Feb 4, 2024Follow The Healer: “Jesus, Healing, and the Kingdom of God”By: Clint McBroomSeries: Follow The HealerThe Kingdom of God was the main thing that Jesus preached about, and Jesus taught two things at the same time...the Kingdom has arrived, yet it hasn't come in its fullness.Jesus' healing ministry was showing this reality, and that helps us to understand the healing of Jesus, why healing happens in unexpected ways, or not at all. And why even when people are physically healed, they still will grow old and die....because the healing is a sign of the Kingdom of God, which is not yet here in its fullness. We're looking forward to it when Christ returns in glory.

Jan 28, 2024Follow The Healer: “Healing and the Image of God”By: Clint McBroomSeries: Follow The HealerWhat we believe about healing is rooted in our view of what a flourishing, healthy, fulfilled human being looks like. What do we need to be healed from? When Jesus healed, he did not merely cure a disease, he also delivered from the power of sin and restored people after the image of God in righteousness and true holiness, in justice, mercy and truth. Jesus continues to heal persons by both restoring the broken image of God and conforming people to his own image.

Jan 14, 2024Follow The Healer: “The Five Ways Jesus Heals”By: Clint McBroomSeries: Follow The HealerAccording to the New Testament, Jesus is the one through whom all things were made (John 1:3, Col. 1:16; Hebrews 1:2), all things hold together (Col. 1:17, Heb. 1:3), and all things are being made new (2 Cor. 5:17, Rev. 21:5). As Lord of both creation and new creation, he can heal in various ways. Jesus heals directly and supernaturally, through doctors and medicine, through the human body's healing power, through giving grace in suffering, and through victorious dying.

Jan 7, 2024Follow The Healer: “Whose Ministry Is It?”By: Clint McBroomSeries: Follow The HealerMatthew 9:35-10:1One of the main parts of Jesus' ministry was his work of healing. Amazingly, Jesus continues that ministry through his followers. So we are called to participate in Jesus' ongoing ministry of healing by joining him in that ministry rather than simply asking him to help us do our own thing.

Dec 21, 2023Protagonist “Jesus and Jubilee”By: Clint McBroomSeries: ProtagonistIsaiah 61:1-4In Isaiah 61, the prophesized Suffering Servant speaks to his people Israel, and says that he has been anointed by God to heal, and set people free from oppression, and to proclaim the good news of God's rule; in other words, he says that he will bring everything that was supposed to come in the OT year of Jubilee. Jesus quotes these verses as he began his ministry, and he actually fulfilled it in his ministry, death, and resurrection.
