The Cross and the Jukebox: “Every Grain of Sand”
song:  "Every Grain of Sand"
written and performed by:  Bob Dylan
Scripture:  Psalm 33

music video link:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSIYAY78Mo8

On the last track of his last Christian-themed album, Dylan places what is widely considered one of his greatest songs.  "Every Grain of Sand" is a reflection on Dylan's experience of God's grace and presence over his life.  When we have the eyes of faith, we can see God's hand in the seemingly mundane things of life, and recognize the truth that, as Jesus tells us, "every hair is numbered" and that God's providential hand is with us at every moment.

    Series: David
    Scripture:  2 Samuel 15

How do we seek God and have trust in God's care when our dreams and plans for the future can't come true? Seeing how David responds during what was the darkest period in his later life shows us what faith looks like during those times.

    David: “Returning Good for Evil”
    Series: David
    Scripture:  1 Samuel 25

In this account of David's encounter with Abigail and her husband Nabal, we see in action a better way to respond when we have been wronged. When we return good for evil, we actually free ourselves to live in peace.

We all place our hope in what, or who, we depend on the most. But what do you do when you’re left disappointed? David’s response to the challenge of Goliath offers a way to move forward.

    David: “What Made David Great”
    Series: David
    Scripture:  Psalm 27

Everyone who knows the Bible knows that King David was a great man. Yet everyone familiar with the Bible will also recognize that David did a lot of not-so-great things. So what made him great? It was that David consistently saw something that many people do not see: that God is in control, and that God is the only one in whom we can place our trust.

The Domino Effect: “Jesus Christ, Our Method”

The Domino Effect: “Jesus Christ In Us”
    Scripture: Colossians 2:1-3

Not only is Jesus in us individually, he is in us together. This is why the mantra of the New Testament is not "me and Jesus" but rather "love one another." So walking with Jesus isn't private spiritual self-improvement, it is relationally based, supernaturally transformative community.

The mystery of the gospel is that Jesus indwells you, the individual believer, by the Holy Spirit—who fills you.
