Isaiah 40:1-5

 

Isaiah 40 is a word of comfort to a people in exile, that their sin has been paid for and their time of suffering for their transgression is over, and their anointed King is coming soon. This has been fulfilled beyond all imagining in Jesus, who received the wages that our sin deserves, and gave to us the wages that his obedience and righteousness deserved…life.
