Being Rich ” A More Secure Hope”
Series: Being Rich
1 Timothy 6:17-19

We live with the constant temptation to place our hope in material possessions, but if we do, it leads to fear and anxiety because it is uncertain. Rather, we place our hope in God, and the practice that enables us to do that is generosity.

    Being Rich: “True Riches”
    Series: Being Rich
    1 Timothy 6:17

Our culture is obsessed with being rich. A good question to ask is, “What does it mean to be rich?” 1 Timothy 6 reveals that having a truly rich life is one where we marshal what God has entrusted to us in such a way that we love generously, in the way that God loves us.

    “The Cure For Anxiety”
    Series: Anxiety
    Matthew 6:25-34

In Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, he calls us to be free from the power that anxiety has on our lives offloading our cares onto our Heavenly Father and then focusing on ways to further His kingdom.

Freedom In Christ: “All I Have Is Christ”
    Galatians 6:11-18

Paul makes his final appeal to trust in Christ rather than any achievement or status. Real Christianity is a matter of inward change, not external observance, and the gospel is offensive because the cross stands against all schemes of self-salvation.

A sign that we are truly trusting in Christ is whether or not we are boasting in Jesus. The heart of what we trust in and what we worship is shown in what we boast about. Asking ourselves "what do I boast about?" is a way of monitoring what  or who we're really trusting in.

    Freedom In Christ “Sowing Well”
    Galatians 6:7-10

The principle of reaping and sowing is true in our spiritual lives just as much as it is true in farming. While living a life characterized by seeking God with all of our heart does not mean that painful circumstances will not happen to us, we can know that if we live by the Spirit, we enjoy the approval and assurance and fulfillment and joy of the Christian life now, and know that it will continue beyond death.

    Freedom in Christ “Gospel Encouragement”
    Galatians 6:1-5

When we are freed from the heart condition of "being conceited" (5:26), to seek our own glory in relationship, we are freed to gently encourage one another in our walk with Christ and in our ongoing struggle against temptation. This kind of encouragement and support is what "fulfilling the law of Christ" (6:2) looks like, because Jesus is the ultimate and unsurpassable example of this kind of love.

    Freedom in Christ “Gospel Relationships”

    Galatians 5:26

Galatians 6 makes applications for chapter 5’s conclusion that believers are to live by the Spirit. Paul gives specific instructions about what this looks like regarding a believer’s relationships with other people. Our identity should not come from what others are doing or what others think of us but from who we are in Christ. When our identity comes from Christ and his gospel, we will never feel superior or inferior to others. This frees us to be both humble and bold in how we love and serve everyone.

Freedom In Christ: “Freedom to Love”
    Galatians 5:1-15

Paul communicates what it means to be truly free: on one hand, we're freed from the power of sin and from the guilt of trying to earn our acceptance from God. On the other hand, we're empowered to please God by loving, which is what God created us for.

Freedom In Christ “Grace for the Barren”
    Galatians 4:21-31

In showing that the heart of the gospel is trusting in God's work for us in Jesus Christ, rather than relying on our own capabilities, Paul uses the Old Testament story of Sarah and Hagar to illustrate the call to rely on God's power and grace. The good news of Jesus Christ is especially for the barren, for those who see themselves as failures, because they are those whom God reaches out to first.

    Freedom in Christ “Blessed Assurance”
    Romans 8:14-16 and Galatians 4:1-7

The culmination of the gospel is that we become children of God and so have a new life of intimate relationship with our Heavenly Father. Not only did Jesus remove the curse of sin that we deserved, He also gave us the blessing that He deserved. Our new status removes the fear of missing fulfillment or losing approval that is at the root of much of our disobedience.
